A 24k gold-plated sterling silver pendant featuring an authentic early medieval glass bead.
Please note: the chain shown in images is for display purposes only and is not included.
The setting is designed as a flared, twisted funnel-shaped mount accented with a decorative sphere. Both the sphere and the wide bail are embellished with relief work creating a delicate granulation effect. The piece is crafted to highlight the contrast between the high-polish gold finish and the weathered texture of the ancient glass.
The centerpiece is a spherical bead of transparent brown glass, originating from the Eastern Mediterranean region circa the 8th century AD. Its surface is partially adorned with a natural, greenish-blue iridescent patina - a unique characteristic formed by over a millennium of burial in the earth.
Total height of the pendant: 48 mm. The internal diameter of the bail is approximately 3 mm. Please note: the pearl strand shown in images is for display purposes only and is not included.
