The gilded silver medallion is made using the champlevé enamel technique. The image of a bird with outspread wings is based on the casket of Abbot Boniface (c. 1110–1130) from the treasury of the abbey in Conques.
The medallion is mounted on a silver signet ring. The shoulders of the band, the back of the setting, and the bezel are decorated with relief patterns.
