This brooch features an original bronze follis minted during the reign of Byzantine Emperor John I Tzimiskes (969–976 AD). The obverse depicts Christ holding the Gospel, while the reverse contains a traditional four-line Greek inscription identifying Jesus Christ as the King of Kings. The coin exhibits a deep olive patina with natural earthen encrustation, preserved from centuries of burial.
The coin is set in a robust, cast sterling silver frame designed to emphasize its historical weight. The assembly is fitted with a vertically positioned steel pin on the reverse, ensuring the brooch remains secure and properly oriented when worn.
