Silver gorgoneion ring with a twisted band. A white porcelain cameo gorgoneion in the Hellenistic style is set on a large bezel, the underside of which is decorated with floral ornamentation. The bezel edge follows the contour of the insert.

Gorgoneion (ancient Greek: Γοργόνειον - “belonging to the Gorgon”) - an image of the head of the Gorgon Medusa (ancient Greek: Μέδουσα - “protector, ruler”). This image was widespread in ancient Greek art, where the gorgoneion served as a protective amulet.

The bezel dimensions are 28×30 mm. The weight of the ring is 12.5 g. Sterling silver (925), patina. Parian bisque porcelain.

Parian porcelain was developed around 1845 by the Staffordshire ceramics manufacturer Mintons and named after Paros, a Greek island famous for its white marble. This material is celebrated for its marble-like texture, warm tone, and smooth, silky surface, which allows for capturing exquisite detail.
